Trim

1) To haul in on a sheet to adjust the sail trim.

2) Sail trim.

3) A properly balanced boat that floats evenly on its waterline. Improperly trimmed boats may list or lie with their bow or stern too low in the water.

4) Fore and aft inclination measured as the difference between the drafts at the forward and after perpendiculars. Ships designed with drag have zero trim when floating at their design drafts. Excessive trim is defined as more than one percent of the ship's length.
