Chain Plate Or Chainplates


1. A flat strip of metal fastened through the hull, either from inside or outside, to which the lower ends of the shrouds are attached. Also known as Shroud Plate.
A term common to wooden boat design and construction.

2. Metal plates bolted to the boat which standing rigging is attached to.
